what is SIN?

Sin is any deviation from the perfect law of God. The word "sin" in the Bible literally translates to "missing the mark". Therefore, to sin against God is to transgress or 'miss the mark' of all that He designates as holy and righteous. Christians believe that humanity is born innately with a sin nature because of the original sin committed by Adam and Eve. Due to this nature, we as humans are fallen creatures in rebellion against a holy God. And our sinfulness makes each of us unholy in God's sight and ultimately in need of His deliverance and saving. The story of the Bible is a Holy God working to redeem fallen sinners from the penalty of sin which is death, judgment and separation from Himself.
